The Star Inn the City are serving some tasty English classics, with a cheeky Yorkshire twist. We were so full we only managed half a scone each at Betty's before calling it a day! This is the perfect place to sit and relax whilst enjoying some rather wonderful food.
Sunday lunch was super tasty. Gorgeous gravy, veg was cooked perfectly, parsnips, carrots, 2 types of kale and an enormous Yorkshire pudding. Potatoes were described as cooked in duck fat but were a little disappointing as the outers were tough and not the crispiness anticipated with duck fat ( maybe reheated?) But still tasted good.
Lamb loin was tender and seasoned beautifully and the beef my husband tells me was excellent.
Everything about this restaurant shouts quality. The location provides an idea setting at the side of the river, an old historic building given a modern and elegant transformation that delivers exceptional plates of food.
We were there for breakfast and were blown away by the quality of ingredients, attention to detail “warm toast” and quality of service.
I would highly recommend breakfast here and can’t wait to return one day to try out the evening menu.
